This Friday, November 8th, is a big night for Spa City Bop Club - our members will be selecting our new board for the year 2025. Soon I will be posting info on FB, Website and sending in email short Bios about each of our wonderful volunteer nominees running for different offices. If you are a member (you can renew or join on election night Nov 8th) you are eligible to vote on Friday. You may not know these nominees personally so take time and read their Bios. We have great volunteers that are willing to give their spare time to let you have fun dancing! That's a BIG deal!

Thank you to all the Dancin’ In The Park volunteers that helped make the 2024 BIG Event so successful!. Our club cannot survive without our faithful hardworking volunteers. Happy to announce that one of our members, Paul Karpinecz, is helping our dance community by teaching our club's most popular line dances on Tuesday nights in May. This is posted in the FB groups - Dancing in Central Arkansas and Dance Buddies. Here are the links to those two different groups on FB. Our club appreciates the moderators of these groups, Robbie Hoffman and Marsha Harris, for all their help in promoting dance in Arkansas. Contact them if you want to get the word out about any dance event you are hosting.

*** Other reminders that help make our dance nights more enjoyable for everyone:
1 There are lots of new folks who want to dance and may be a bit shy – Introduce yourself and make new friends!
2 No drinks or food on the dance floor.
3 Everyone is responsible for cleaning their table area before leaving the dance (Bus your own space) Used glassware goes on the end of the bar. Paper/plastic/food trash etc goes in the trash bins. Ask if you need assistance.
Barrett BAR OPENS AT 6 PM SHARP! All drinks must be purchased at the bar. No “outside” containers of “soft or hard” drinks inside Barrett Center per Management. Bar closes at 9:30 pm.
BARRETT EVENT CENTER - Next to KOA 2231 East Grand Ave Hot Springs, AR 71091 Members—$7 Guests—$10 Your Yearly Membership of $25 may be due –bring checkbook or cash if you want to renew. You do not need to be a member to come to our dances – We welcome guests!
The officers for 2024 President - Sue Thompson, Vice President - Kathy Peters, Secretary - Rhonda Kimble, Treasurer - Ginger Johnson, and Parliamentarian - Donna Blackwood. There are other board positions to be appointed by the board. Please let any board officer know if you are willing to serve the club in any of these appointed positions. Volunteers make our Bop Club great!.

Dancin’ In The Park 2024 ticket forms will be available at registration desk. All forms must be mailed to club’s PO Box. First come, first choice of tables.
Dancin' in the Park 2024 (May 3 - 4) ticket forms will be available at the registration desk. These forms will be available to print out from our website on Saturday, October 28th. All ticket forms/checks must be mailed to our club's PO Box.
Get your group of 10 now so you can buy a whole table. No less than 11 folks have said that they already have their tablemates of 10 and just waiting to get the ticket forms to mail in. So that is already 110 tickets ready to be gone! See attached flyer for Hotel room prices and reservation phone.

Congratulations to 21 years of dancing & friendship with the Spa City Bop & Swing Dance Club. Friday, July 28th was quite the fun, fantastic event. None of this would have been possible without the creative genius and organizational skills of Sandi Martin and Sheri Hardman. Our club owes them a big thank you for taking all the tropical decorations we had on hand and spending many hours embellishing and refurbishing them to create a great background and beach ambiance for our “5 O’Clock Somewhere” theme party. Please thank them for their dedication to our club.
In addition to Sandi and Sheri, there were many volunteers who came out and promptly performed all the necessary tasks of hanging props, covering tables, rearranging tables/chairs and cleaning up. These super volunteers were: Glendora Anderson, Shelly Bunger, Lewis Diggs, Brenda Ferguson, Ginger Johnson, Sheri Hardman, Sandi Martin, Dennis May, Lynn Reymundo, Jerri Roper, Ellen Voss Botsford, Sue Thompson, Donna Blackwood, Frank Warren, Jim Stanton, Virginia Stanton and, Jean Neil. Give these folks a big “thank you” when you see them. Also a big thank you to Barbara Penney and team for her continued help with selling the "Split the Pot" tickets that help fund our theme parties. Our club could not have lasted 21 years without all the volunteer support.
We also recognized our talented, faithful DJ, Scotty Mack for his 19 years of devoted musical service to our club. We were also honored to have several of the original Charter Members (These folks formed our club in 2002). Many of our Charter Members have left us and several were not able to attend due to previous obligations, and health reasons.
Charter Members who attended were: Jim & Virginia Stanton, Emma Jean Wilson, Don Downs, Ruth Puckett, Bill Ferguson, and Larry Kauffman.
Unable to attend due to other engagements or health reasons: Mary James, Joyce Watkins, Phillip Dickson, Rhonda Yates, Valerie Haines Brassel, Cathy Slater and John Slater.
Deceased Charter members are: Mac & Naomi McCarta, Chuck & Patty Cunning, Marilyn Kauffman, Doris Mayberry, Mike & Lora Matula, Bob & Gail Fowler, George Ransom, Bill James, Lamar Watkins, and Carroll Wilson.

Thank You to Everyone for a Successful Member Appreciation Event!
Last Saturday night was so much fun with 132 members and 44 nonmembers in attendance. (Total 176) How did all of that come about? The Member Appreciation Celebration night was inspired by Susan and Cliff Prowse. They were coming off a very successful season with Oaklawn in Pops Lounge and were so excited about how our bop club members had supported them through good times and bad (Covid). They wanted to help our club build its membership back to pre-covid days and volunteered to do a celebration party for our members in hopes that would generate interest in joining our club. BTW – Cliff and Susan are members of our club as well as Susan’s mom and dad. Our President, Dennis May, jumped on that offer and asked Ginger Johnson to get it organized and coordinated with Cliff and Susan’s schedule. The rest is Spa City Bop Club history. Membership renewals and new members went from 150 members in April to 200 members as of June 17, 2023.
Our club is so appreciative of this grand gesture from Cliff & Susan Prowse. We cannot express how great Saturday night, June 17th was (even in the heat). The music was non-stop. Requests were taken. Line dances danced. Great variety of all kinds of dancing: country, blues, rock n roll, west coast, east coast, cha-cha – you name it, they played it and we danced ‘till the lights came on at 9 pm. (And no drinks were spilled on the dance floor. LOL)
An event like this has many folks helping in the background – Special thanks to Linda McDaniel, June, Harter, Glendora Anderson, Jim/Virginia Stanton, Phil Dickson, and Donna Brinkley for working so hard to get the seating arranged and decorations done. An extra thank-you goes to Donna Brinkley for bringing many extras to decorate for this fun Pink Piano occasion.
Thanks to our Bop Club Members (Old and New) for attending and enjoying the “free” event in their honor. We hope to continue this surge of excitement and activity for years to come. And thank you to the 44 nonmembers for attending and helping us celebrate. We hope you will consider joining our club and participating in our regular dances. www.spacitydanceclub.com
Again, thanks to Cliff and Susan for inspiring this super idea and volunteering their valuable time and great talent for us. It was overwhelming. It was awesome and all the awards were hilarious and fun. You guys have “nailed” your fan base perfectly. From the very first note of the very first song, the dance floor was full and stayed full until 9 o’clock. It was great. Kudos and a BIG thank you to Cliff & Susan. Spa City Bop Club loves you both!

Hello Spa City Bop Club Members!
Firstly, what a wonderful 2022 Dancin’ in the Park!! I have had nothing but positive feedback and many “thank you” messages sent to the whole club for a job well-done. What a fun dance event! We appreciate all those who were able to attend and missed those who could not be there. Thank you, as well, to everyone who volunteered to make this weekend possible. It has been in the planning stages for months; and there wasn’t “a stone left unturned”!! We could not have had such a successful DITP without YOU!!
Secondly, we will be having a very IMPORTANT MEETING of all Spa City Bop Club members on Friday, May 27th, at 6:00 PM, before our scheduled dance. We cannot encourage you enough to attend this very special meeting to discuss some pending issues facing our organization. If possible, mark your calendars and join us on May 27th.

Spa City Bop Club's 19th Anniversary was a great success due to many people. I did forget to mention so many things last Friday night in the announcements. I am posting my gratitude to a fabulous bunch of dance friends that always have my back. Without them nothing like the Disco Fever party could ever happen. You folks are THE BEST. Everyone read the note below and the next time you see these folks, tell them that THEY did a tremendous job!
IWe meet at the Barrett Center (old VFW). Barrett Center is behind the KOA campground on McClendon Rd. Official address is 2231 E Grand Ave Hot Springs, AR 71901 But lots of GPS devices cannot find it. Scroll down to see directions coming from LR and directions coming from downtown HS. From any direction - take EXIT 4 on US 70. Barrett signage is small - look for it!
Barrett Center has a great food menu - they serve food from 6 - 8 pm. The BAR is open from 6 til end of dance. All drinks must be purchased from the BAR. Reservations are not required but very helpful in planning. Text 501.412.6016 or email ginjohn90@hotmail.com with names of those at your table. Masks are no longer required! If you do not feel well, please do not attend.
The Barrett Center will be taking food orders from 6pm until 8pm. Doors open at 6pm.
There will still be social distancing at the Bar when ordering food and drinks. Tables will be continue to be 6 feet apart. But no masks required! Yea!
