One of Spa City Bop's Founding Matriarchs leaves legacy of dance, inspiration and love for family and friends.  We will miss Naomi McCarta!

Naomi Sara McCarta, 87, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2012, after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born April 9, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan. Naomi is preceded in death by by her husband T. J. “Mac” McCarta.  Together Naomi and Mac provided the stimulus for many of us to participate and gather together each weekend for dancing.  They had a major impact on the initial organization and success of the Spa City Bop & Swing Dance Club. Their daughter, Annette Grinnis, was the first president of the club and laid a strong foundation for the club's success. Even though Naomi was no longer able to attend the Spa City dances and events, she continued to renew her club membership every year.  She believed in being loyal to the very end!  She had planned on participating in the 10 year anniversary celebration in July but was hospitalized and physically could not attend.
Mac and Naomi are now having a ball dancing together again in heaven to Naomi's favorite song - New Old Songs.  She is survived by her son, Greg Huegel (Jeannie) of Hot Springs; daughters Donna Kassidakos of Florida and Annette Grinnis (Richard) of Hot Springs; step-sons Jeff McCarta (Sandra), Kelvin McCarta (Linda), Mark McCarta (Mary) and Danny Jo McCarta; and step-daughter Tammy Wheelis (Jerry) all of Florida; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital or Arkansas Hospice.
